TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lolong village in Pekalongan district, Central Java, was declared a tourism site this year by the Pekalongan district administration.
The village is known as a haven for durian fans as visitors can enjoy the sweet succulent taste of freshly picked durian from any one of the many trees owned by the locals at a low price, said Zain, one of the villagers.
However, when the fruit is not in season, visitors can opt to gear up to enjoy the cool breeze near the Sengkarang River while having a fun and thrilling rafting adventure along the river.
At only Rp180,000 per person, four people per raft venture through the waters accompanied by two guides. The rafting season just began around a month ago as the water was completely dried up during the dry season, allowing people to walk right over the lake.
As a bonus, rafters will also be able to enjoy the view of the Lengkung Bridge left behind by the Dutch on top of the river in addition to a tour consisting of three stops during the rafting session, one of which includes climbing one of the cliffs they pass for a more exciting and heart pumping experience.
After the fun and thrilling ride through the river, rafters can rest while sipping on some refreshing coconut water to complete the journey.
For some who want to continue the day, the tour guides can also take visitors on a trip to the durian field and have a meal of tasty traditional urap (a vegetable dish) before wrapping up the day and heading back home.
